Beware the Wet! It is, well .........WET! See the page named Photo Gallery for a few examples of what the Wet can do......... OR how much fun you can have. How to get to Kununurra? - There is a daily bus service from both Darwin and Broome. Air North fly into Kununurra from Broome and Darwin at least twice daily. Skywest flys directly from Perth a few times per week.
Seasonal employment opportunities at Bluey’s Outback Farm exist during the Harvesting season (May to October) for Melon Picking and Packing. If you are interested in working for Blueys Outback Farm, please phone us or enquire via email about the current work situation.
blueysoutbackfarm@bigpond.com Accommodation - We do have some accommodation on the Farm available, but generally our employees choose to stay in the various Caravan parks and backpacker accommodation available in Kununurra. We can provide transport to and from work. Hours of work & pay - The harvest time of the year is very labour intensive. Fruit Pickers are paid an hourly rate, with a minimum of currently $ 16.49 per hour for the first 40 hours worked. The rate increases with the hours worked. Fruit Packers are paid on a “per piece” basis. Some people can’t handle the work at all, and quit after 2 hours, while others stay for the whole season. Some stay for a few months to make enough money to continue their travels around Australia. Other
things to do (apart from work) in Kununurra are: Canoeing the great Ord
River, Cruising the Lake Argyle or Ord River, hiking in one of the many
National Parks close by (including the Bungle Bungles - Purnunulu, National
Park) and so on and so on … For more information, contact Kimberley
Tourism Association.
